Taea Vogel
Full Stack Engineer
Who Am I?
Hi! I'm Taea. I'm a full stack engineer with a passion for the intersection of software and hardware. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2020 with a focus in Computer Aided Design. In every role I've ever had, I have found a way to raise the level of everyone around me with the software tools I build. I love learning new tech, and pride myself on being the fullest of full stack engineers from hardware, to web apps, databases, CI/CD, backend systems, embedded systems, and beyond.

What Am I Working On?
Quiet
A decentralized, end-to-end encrypted group messaging app built on top of libp2p, OrbitDB and IPFS.
What Am I Learning?
Distributed Systems & P2P Networking
Working on Quiet has been a crash course in the realities of distributed systems. There's very little established roadmap for a lot of what we're doing, which makes it particularly exciting to be working on the cutting edge.
Cryptography
E2E encryption, key agreement protocols, and group auth are now a big part of my day-to-day.
What Am I Reading?
Designing Data-Intensive Applications
Picked this up between jobs to upskill, and it's been an absolute eye opener. I knew a fair bit of the concepts, but the depth of the material has been fascinating. It's made me a much better systems thinker.
